RoughLee Home had some very special visitors recently – a pair of gentle ponies came to spend the afternoon with us. Residents and visitors were thrilled to stroke them, learn fascinating facts, and simply enjoy their calming company. The ponies were made to feel at home thanks to the kindness of our staff, who worked alongside the visiting trainers to ensure everything ran smoothly.
It was lovely to see the joy on everyone’s faces as they chatted, laughed, and shared stories while meeting the ponies. Moments like these remind us how much happiness animals can bring. A big thank you to the wonderful trainers and our amazing team for making such a heart-warming day possible.
The home was built on the site where Rough Lee ma- ternity hospital had been. The first stone was laid by Lady Clitheroe in November 1982. The building as a home was opened in January 1984.
